I've received endless questions about my home and day-to-day life here in Lesotho... And I must admit, I find it hilarious to hear (and imagine) what loved ones back state-side think my life must be like. So I thought it might be time to quash a few rumors. And we'll start here... My home is, in fact, incredibly comfortable and normal. I do not live in a primitive hut (nor do my neighbors, for the most part.) Life in Ha Selomo is simple, but comfortable. In fact, I actually quite love my quaint little rondaval... And other than the annoyance of a flooded floor after heavy thunderstorms, or the occasional, yet inevitable, spider or dead rat (Yes, there is a con to living with a cat who is an excellent mouser!) in the house, it's incredibly comfortable and homey. I do everything I used to in the States- bake, wash dishes, watch movies, take bathes, read before bed, ect- I just do it all a little differently (and in the case of watching movies, with a whole lot more "ahead-of-time" planning!)
So enjoy this brief tour of my happy little home in Ha Selomo!
